Undine Sonata for flute and piano (composer CARL REINECKE)
This is a rare programmatic work from nineteenth-century German composer Carl Reinecke, which tells the story of the water spirit Undine, who gains a soul by marriage to a humanbeing and establishes a relationship with God. Dedicated to flutist Wilhelm Barge, a soloist in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra from 1867 to 1895, the Undinesonata gradually uses more vibrato as it progresses, indicating Undine's acquisition of a soul. Drawn from original manuscripts, this updated text is an opportunity for the advancedflutist to showcase skills and ability of expression.
