Three New Gymnopedies
Levin's Â"Three New GymnopédiesÂ" take their inspiration from Satie's well-known set. While these beautiful new pieces have musical details in common with the originals (e.g. the overall slow waltz tempo, dark character, rich harmony, and French sensibility), Levin writes in the Preface that his pieces differ from Satie's in their complexity, development of melodic material and emotional contrast. These gorgeous pieces may be performed together or separately. Highly recommended for the advancing student.
