These miniature character pieces with imaginative titles are each constructed of short melodic and rhythmic motives with simple accompaniment. The pieces are very tonal with minimal use of chromaticism and conservative use of dissonances. They are mostly in binary or ternary form with repeated sections. The pieces are technically undemanding and can be mastered in a short period of time.
