Romance, Op. 37 - Flute (or Violin) and Piano
This piece was composed during Saint-Säens's flight to London after the Franco-Prussian War, and was premiered in 1872 by flutist Paul Taffanel accompanied by the composer. The piece is genial, short and sweet with a lovely flowing piano accompaniment. It has a few brilliant, dramatic cadenza moments, but for the most part is melody and accompaniment. -Flute Talk
