Morricone, La Musica, Il Cinema - Score
Look Inside
The only monograph dedicated to Ennio Morricone to make use of the direct analysis of his autograph scores, Morricone: music, cinema returns in a new guise, more than twenty-five years after its first publication. As in a cubist portrait, Sergio Miceli breaks down and reveals the multifaceted identity of one of the protagonists of the second half of the twentieth century in Italian music. A pioneer of film music studies in Italy, Miceli was the first to approach the Roman composer from a musicological perspective, bringing to the center of the debate a figure hitherto remained on the margins of the cultural establishment. The new edition edited by Maurizio Corbella, here also author of a new preface, brings Miceli's studio into dialogue with current acquisitions in the field of music historiography and media musicology, in the light of the most recent developments in Morricone's career. In addition to the biographical notes and the complete catalog of the works, the volume includes an anthology of writings and interviews that provide an insight into Miceli's thirty-year activity on Morricone.
