Klezmer Waltzes
Say the word “waltz” and the name of Austrian composer/conductor Johann Strauss Jr. comes immediately to mind ... unless you're a Klezmer, in which case the name of Rumanian composer Josef Ivanovici – a contemporary of Strauss – will be invoked. This collection contains 10 klezmer selections in 3/4 time, scored for instruments typical in a 19th century “village orchestra”: violin, viola, guitar and bass. Includes Ivanovici's “Waves of the Danube” and “Le Sang Roumain” and: Bygone Days • Nathan Waltz • Russian Gypsy Waltz • Toska Parodinu • Selma Waltz • and more. (The guitar and bass parts are included in a special pull-out booklet.)
