Five Angels (Violoncello)
Violoncello and Piano ""Five Angels is a five-movement piece with the character of a Suite, though each of the movements mah also be played by itself. The five compositions combine Latin American styles and jazz harmonies with elements from film and gospel music. The slower movements (II and IV) make use of romantic impressionist sonorities and are somewhat easier to play. The faster movements, with their bold rhythms, call for a more advanced technique. Rich in contrasts and vividly pictorial, ""Five Angels"" is especially designed to to delight younger players. The pieces are ideal for examinations and competitions and have proven to be appealing in recital. The printed edition comes with a CD containing a full recording of the piece (to become familiar with it) and play-along tracks for solo performance, with the piano part recorded by the composer himself.
