Easter Oratorio in Full Score
A superb work, most likely composed in 1736 for the Easter festival at Leipzig, which usually featured a musical setting of the Easter story. Lacking a scriptural narrative--but incorporating adaptations of devotional text written earlier by popular German poet Barthold Brockes--the score includes a new English translation by Stanley Appelbaum and is reproduced from the authoritative Bach-Gesselschaft edition
