Clarion Call - Later Elementary Level
Description: This piece is a march in AABA form. The second time it is stated one octave higher until the final stanza, when it goes back to the original register, followed by a short coda.
Purpose: To give the student experience in keeping a very steady beat, while at the same time playing legato with the RH.
Suggestions for Instruction: *Note that the melody through measure 2 contains only the standard bugle tones.
*Watch the voicing of the RH diads and triads.
*On the repeat of the theme keep the “walking bass” very steady.
*Be sure to observe the syncopation in measures 2,6, 14 and 30.
