Title |
Chili Peppers! - The Finn & Morris Performance Series/Early Elementary Level
Description: This piece is written in G position, is 32 measure long and in 4/4 time. The melody is both staccato and legato and spans six octaves. There are both LH and RH crossovers and three tempo changes.
Purpose: Students are encouraged to tell a musical story through the use of tempo changes, contrasting touches and the use of dynamics and different octaves.
Suggestions for Instruction: This is a descriptive piece depicting a humorous encounter with a chili pepper while eating. Students should be encouraged to visualize the scenario- eating happily, detecting the chili pepper, running for some water, cautiously confirming its absence and then resuming eating once again. Crisp staccatos, clearly defined dynamics, and carefully chosen tempo changes will ensure a clear picture!
