Description: It is in A B A form with direct dynamic contrasts, and 5-finger patterns for hand positions shown. It introduces 8va, fermata, melodic slurs between hands, ritardando,a tempo and staccato.
Purpose: * Developing voicing with accompaniment chords (3, 5, 7, etc.)
* Learning to jump (8va) right on time.
Suggestions for Instruction: Have the student play the dotted half note in measures 3,5,7 etc. with accompanying chords while saying, “Loud-soft-soft.”
The metronome can be used to work for a steady beat and jumping “on time” (measures 9 and 18).
