Setting of 6 Buddhist aphorisms in a continuous song cycle. Lyrical, kind to the voice. Colorfully interwoven textures, rhapsodic, beautiful. Some virtuosity required in all parts, esp. control of delicate timbral shadings, e.g., soprano vocalise with modulating vowels, piano harmonics. Commissioned and premiered by the contemporary ensemble Thamyris.

Fun and exciting work for paired soloists. Requires both technical virtuosity and refined control of expressively inflected pitch and timbral shadings. Commissioned by flutist Christina Guenther in conjunction with her Florida State University doctoral treatise on Sherr's chamber works for flute.

Expressive lamentation in memory of my brother Neal: meant to commemorate his life as well as convey a sense of resolution and hope. Commissioned by the Carter Center and cellist Ian Ginsburg, and premiered at the Carter Presidential Center. Often performed at Holocaust memorial concerts. Duration: 8 min.
