The diabolic duo of Igudesman & Joo (Aleksey Igudesman, violin, and Hyung-ki Joo, piano) are busily touring the globe, entertaining audiences with their special brand of polished musical humor. Moment MusiCALL (arranged by Joo, based on a very familiar ringtone) is a perfect answer to the annoying and inappropriate ringing cellphone. Alla molto turca (Mozart/Igudesman/Joo) is a manic take-off on Mozart's famous melody, and Horror Movie (Igudesman) includes musical cues from all of the standard fright flicks! A virtuoso, says Igudesman, is "a musician with the secret desire to play things faster than anyone else for absolutely no reason." Understanding that the performance of standard virtuoso pieces opens the musician to comparisons of all those who have gone before, Igudesman offers ten of his very own virtuoso pieces instead. Play them as given, adapt and transform, or even make mistakes (no one will know). From the very Russian Katyusha Variations to the leaps and bounds of the Tango del Diabolo, advanced violinists will enjoy bringing these successful showpieces to new audiences.

More contemplative in nature is Igudesman's set of four pieces inspired by the unique Venice. As opposed to his more challenging works, these four are approachable by easy to intermediate-level violinists, which makes them suitable as teaching or performance pieces.

Performance artist and violinist extraordinaire, Igudesman has composed volumes of pieces about animals over the years. Continuing in this vein and with a desire to top all that had gone before, he has chosen ten creatures that actually exist, but that could easily be seen as pure fiction. Each of the resulting descriptive pieces includes performance suggestions to amuse and engage the audience, and Igudesman encourages experimentation. Humorous text and drawings for each of the creatures is supplied by harpist Magdalena Hoffmann.

At the request of violin pedagogue Pavel Vernikov, Igudesman and Joo have composed performance pieces for the Feast of Duos competition held in August 2014. The two commposer/performers insisted that, along with standard repertoire, all entrants also perform a work that included specific elements: theatricality, spoken word, choreography, improvisation, and humor (i.e.: any Igudesman & Joo concert). This set includes two full performance pieces, including dancing while playing, singing while playing, playing the piano with...well...playing the piano posteriorially, and more, As Far As You Can (by Igudesman) and Beyond the Limit?
