Instead of reading note by note, this latest addition to our Intervallic Reading Series, encourages students to learn to read intervals and patterns. Pattern recognition is one of the foundational skills necessary for students to be good readers. Of the 12 selections, seven have an optional teacher duet. Titles include: Nothing but the Blood; O Worship the King; O How I Love Jesus; I Love to Tell the Story; My Jesus, I Love Thee; Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee; and There Will Be Showers of Blessing.
I Saw Three Ships, Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, Jingle Bells, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, O Christmas Tree, Silent Night, Up On the Housetop, We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Dynamic, energetic piece producing powerful results yet is easy to play. Using dissonance to suggest danger and excitement, this crowd pleaser in the key of C minor is marked Â"furioso.Â" This duet can be learned quickly and the ensemble playing is easy.
This delightful collection of songs from the childÂ's point of view presents snapshots of everyday events. All pieces have lyrics and the titles include: Make a Wish With a Friend, ThereÂ's a Monster in My Closet, and I Have the Â"Purr-fect Cat.Â" The second half of the book introduces eighth notes with easy rhythms. Optional teacher duets offer additional recital possibilities.
This tribute to friendship features a charming, lyrical melody in waltz time and easy-to-learn positional changes. The piece is in C major with easy legato pedaling. Kevin Costley at his most engaging.
This light, rhythmic duet in the key of F major passes the melody between the Secondo and Primo a few times. The syncopation, thick sonority, and frequent accidentals give it a twinge of Latin jazz. The cheerful upbeat tempo makes this a nice opener or closer for any recital.
This is the first of a three-book series of playful original piano pieces, beginning at the elementary level. A variety of touches, pedal, and interesting harmonies foster students' imagination with pieces that highlight the four seasons of the year. All 21 pieces are only one page long Â- short yet very expressive. Even though no eighth notes are used, the changes in register, texture and touch offer ample challenge and interest. There is a music dictionary in the back of the book. Good for transfer students and to reinforce note reading.
