The Water Is Wide
This heart-breaking folk-love song was originally known as 'Waly, waly.' This version is for women's voices, and begins with a soprano solo which turns into a duet. When the chorus enters about halfway through this short piece, there is a key change from F major to G major and the voices begin to diverge from each other, but despite this the work remains quite tonal and the separate lines always very singable.
