There Are (No) Children Here
Commissioned by the Children's Aid Society Chorus, this was Morton Gould's final work before his death. The text and additional music are by Phil Galdston and explore the effect of urban poverty and crime on the lives of children. It ends on a hopeful note with the Children's Hymn: “Like a fragile flower in the sidewalk seams, we will push through to build our dreams...We are the children here.” Piano, percussion, and string bass.
