Tropical Tango - 1 Piano, 4 Hands/Early Intermediate Level
Description: A slow tango with an opportunity for great expression-particularly in the rubato sections. The contrast between between staccato and legato in the secondo part is important and effective.
Purpose: To teach ensemble playing, rhythmic variety, use of expressive fermatas and rubato as well as distinction between legato and staccato playing.
Suggestions for Instruction: Work on the secondo part separately at first to refine its subtleties, then add the primo, being sure to coordinate the rhythmic differences-e.g. triplets vs. even quarter notes, etc.
