Description: The words of Robert Louis Stevenson's poem are set to music so students can sing and play. The solo begins in C position in 3/4 time with both hands playing. The B section changes position and then the A section returns with a coda.

Purpose: There are four main purposes for this selection: • reinforce note-reading • learn the words of a famous poem • reinforce the feel of 3/4 time • perform.

Suggestions for Instruction: Notice the movement of the LH thumb in measure 15. Discuss accidentals, accents, 8va, staccato and the “wide” C's in measure 24.
