Three Scenes from Penn's Woods
Referring to the founder of Pennsylvania, William Penn, this suite of three appealing settings reflects on the origins and character of this state. The suite opens with the lighthearted 6/8 setting Punxsutawny Phil. Next is Moravian Hymn Variants which is solemn and rich-sounding, but with a brief spirited middle variation. Independence Hall concludes this well-written work in a stately and majestic style. Dur: 7:30 (Grade 3)
