| Title | Suite en trois parties Op. 11
The present edition was prepared from the only known autograph manuscript, published here for the first time. Composed in 1897, The Suite en trois parties op. 11 for viola and piano is an impressive work in the French repertory for the instrument. With its vast proportions evoking a sonata in three movements, the originality of its design, its development of the expressive qualities of the instrument, this Suite shows itself to be, between Berlioz' Harold in Italy and the Sonata by Honegger, one of the major French compositions for solo viola.
