This re-rengraved edition of Volume 1 of Alwin SchroederÂ's celebrated 170 Foundation Studies for Violincello keeps intact SchorederÂ's organized studies in a pedagogically progressive order and adds editor Richard HugheyÂ's lifelong experience learning from and teaching with the collection. These are wonderful studies for the beginning cellist and also works to renew and further develop experienced players as well.

Intermediate studies from Carl Schroeder's Violoncello Method, Vol. 1 and Alwin Schroeder's 170 Foundation Studies, Vol. 1. The first part of the book is organized around an individual scale and arpeggio. This is an attempt to help the student become solid in the specific tonality. At each scale section, the teacher might choose to teach any other scales with the same finger pattern as the one introduced. The second part of the book - Technique Section- introduces new aspects of technique on which each young string player must work. Many of the exercises are duets for student and teacher.
