The lyrics in this waltz in Middle C Position express the beauty and freedom of winter skating on a pond. An easy teacher accompaniment enhances this simple, but elegant piece.

Students who love horses can learn a lot from this piece in Middle C position. It uses no accidentals and has a clever lyric that mentions many different kinds of horses--from Chincoteague ponies to Clydesdales to Lipizzaners. The lovely waltz also features an optional teacher duet.

Voicing a melody over a broken triad and using the pedal throughout are two of the techniques needed to play this piece beautifully. In the key of C Major with the second theme in A minor, the LH uses intervals of 5ths-8ths while the RH plays mostly scales and arpeggios while creating a lyrical line.

Inspired by a trip to BirdÂ's Hill Provincial Park in Manitoba, this impressionistic trio evokes the sound and motion of birds in flight. Delicate gestures among the three players weave an impressionistic tapestry of color. A compositional tour de force for three players on one piano!

A running, triplet rhythmic figure is constant throughout this piece in C Major creating the image of the ripples caused by the rain. LH crosses over RH frequently as it plays a very pretty melody.

Lush, romantic harmonies combine with a gorgeous melody to offer an intermediate student a beautiful, expressive solo. Reading ledger lines and use of rubato will enhance the performance of this piece.

Marked Â"pacing and prowlingÂ" the A minor mode and descriptive lyrics tell of a very hungry lion who is ready to eat anything! Constant hands-together playing (eighth notes in the R.H. and longer note values in the L.H.) with just a few hand shifts keeps this piece within the range of a late 2nd-year student.

What could be cuter than a cat that likes to hide in the food pantry? This charming piece, which includes an optional duet part, is a good reinforcement for the key of F major. Hands are in Â"almost Middle CÂ" position (L.H. thumb on Middle C, R.H. thumb on D). Mostly hands alone playing and R.H. has a crossover to Bass C. Darling lyrics tell the story of this real-life experience!

Two to Play, Book 1 is a wonderful collection of original pieces written in equal parts for early elementary students. Since equal part early elementary duets are sometimes difficult to find, these new original duets will become invaluable in your studio!

These six action-packed duets Â- with titles such as: Riding the Waves, Wild Horse Roundup, Metro March, and McAllistar's Jig Â- are perfect ensemble pieces for recitals or festivals! It's hard to find good duet material on early levels but these duets are not only attractive (melodically and rhythmically), but also well balanced where both secondo and primo parts are equally important.

This piece has continuous running 16th note passages in the key of G minor. The tempo is "light and sparkling" with R.H. octaves in section B and a broad fortissimo finish with the final cadence in G Major.
